along with Dr Garry Egger, established the first AquaFitness training courses
in Australia. Colleen has been
conducting Aquafitness Training for the past 20 years and is recognised as one
of the leaders in Aquatic Exercise Programs. Over the past two years Colleen
has conducted Aquafitness Training Courses for the Greater Western Area Health
Service and has trained over 80 Aquafitness leaders in that time.
has also designed and developed many other national wellness training programs
- Walking for Pleasure, Gentle Exercise, Vacations for Pleasure, Keeping the
Memory Keen, Life Games, and Lifeball, the new sport recently accepted into the
Australian Regional Masters Games.
Lifeball is coordinated by Colleen and she also supervises the administration and
training of personnel belonging to 60 organisations involved with Lifeball across
Australia, representing over 1,200 players whose ages range from early 40s to
part of the National Sports Ability program, Colleen runs training courses
through the Department of Sport and Recreation for school teachers, covering
all aspects of sport and recreation for people with disabilities.

Gates, has developed, promoted, and conducted training courses on Pole Walking in
Australia. Together they have introduced this recreational fitness program into
many remote and regional areas of Australia, and have trained fitness professionals,
physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and other allied health
Colleen conducts workshops and training courses on many Healthy Lifestyle
topics for numerous organisations and government departments including:
Murrumbidgee Area Health Service, and the Greater Western Area Health Service
NSW Department of Health;
Gateway Health, Victoria, and Alpine Health;
Dept. of Sport and Recreation, Riverina and Greater Western Regions;
Dept. of Veterans’ Affairs, ACT; and
Community Fitness Australia.
the Director of her own company, Healthy Lifestyle Health Promotion Services,
Colleen has presented at many overseas conferences on the subject of healthy
lifestyle for the over 50s.
Colleen has been recognised for her dedication and
skill by the Australian Fitness Industry, being awarded the Australian Fitness
Industry’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
Colleen has received many other awards for her untiring work in the
development of fitness and recreational programs including Citizen of the Year,
Rotary Pride of Workmanship, Fellow of Australian Council for Health Physical
Education and Recreation, NSW Premiers Award (twice) and an Order of Australia
