This is a basic aquafitness course that covers all the information and
aqua exercises an AquaFitness Instructor requires to start a safe community
based AquaFitness class. This course is particularly suitable for those leaders
wishing to expand their personal training business or land based exercise business
to include the wonderful world of water. This course outlines the basic theory
and practical techniques that are required to get an AquaFitness program
started. This is NOT a “high powered bells and whistles” training course. This course is a practical, well designed and
delivered, no nonsense training package, based on the principles of high
quality, well researched programming. It focuses on how to deliver water based
exercise programs to the average person in the community who may be overweight,
unfit, and sedentary, and who may need lots of motivation. This course also
covers one of the main features of success, which is how to maintain class
numbers, through the delivery of safe, effective, functional, fun, and interesting
WHO CAN ATTEND
To be considered for this training, an applicant must:
- Have suitable skills and experience in leading an exercise class at a Fitness Australia Accreditation Certificate III level, with SISFFIT310A – Plan and Deliver Water Based Fitness Activities, or equivalent;
- Complete and sign the enclosed registration form;
- Have, or be prepared to gain, a current First Aid certificate or equivalent; and
- Agree to ensure to abide by the administrative and safety requirements as outlined in the Aqua Fitness Instructor Manual.
TYPE OF TRAINING
Face to Face
2 x 8 hour days, face to face, which includes a practical assessment, plus additional time to complete and submit a take-home,
open-book exam and 3 lesson plans.

Participants will be involved in numerous
active practical water sessions during the two days training and are required to prepare two aqua routines using Cue-cards.
Class participants will be assessed
in three ways:
- Practical Assessment delivered from the pool
deck with or without music;
- Submitted lesson plans;
- Take-Home, Open-Book Exam.
Participants on the course will receive:
- Instructor Manual;
full set of Cue-cards;
- Reference Text;
- Music CD;
- Information handouts including sample routines.
On completion of the course and assessment, successful participants receive a
certificate from Healthy Lifestyle Health Promotion Services endorsed by the
Australian Fitness Industry.
